aRticLe rEviEw : tedDy bEaR ^_^

Hi there !

Now, I would like to talk about 'TEDDY BEAR'. Sound funny, right? My friend laugh at me when I said to her that I want to write about this. But, for me as a girl it's a normal situation when we look at teddy bear, we fall in love with it. I love teddy bear so much! We can cry on it when we sad, accompany us when we're alone and so on.

Teddy bear is a stuffed toy bear. They are usually stuffed with soft, white cotton and have smooth and soft fur. It is an enduring form of a stuffed animal in many countries, often serving the purpose of entertaining children. In recent times, some teddy bears have become collector's items. Now, teddy bears come in various styles and people can dress them up in many different articles of clothing. Teddy bears are also among the most popular gifts for children and significant others on Valentine's DaybirthdaysChristmas and other holidays.

Did you know? The name Teddy Bear comes from former United States President Theodore Roosevelt, whose nickname was "Teddy". The name originated from an incident on a bear-hunting trip in Mississippi in November 1902, to which Roosevelt was invited by Mississippi Governor Andrew H. Longino. There were several other hunters competing, and most of them had already killed an animal. A suite of Roosevelt's attendants, led by Holt Collier, cornered, clubbed, and tied an American Black Bear to a willow tree after a long exhausting chase with hounds. They called Roosevelt to the site and suggested that he should shoot it. He refused to shoot the bear himself, deeming this unsportsmanlike, but instructed that the bear be killed to put it out of its misery, and it became the topic of a political cartoon by Clifford Berryman in The Washington Post on November 16, 1902. While the initial cartoon of an adult black bear lassoed by a white handler and a disgusted Roosevelt had symbolic overtones, later issues of that and other Berryman cartoons made the bear smaller and cuter.

What was special on teddy bear? Early teddy bears were made to look like real bears, with extended snouts and beady eyes. Today's teddy bears tend to have larger eyes and foreheads and smaller noses, baby-like features that make them more attractive to buyers because they enhance the toy's cuteness, and may even be pre-dressed. That's why teddy bear can make us fall in love!

Last but not least, thanks to Siti Suhaila binti Yahya and her big huge teddy bear because give me an idea to create this article.

OH MY GOD ! cyber-bully ?

Okay, this time i'll not talk too much about this topic. Actually, I hate this topic very much! If we look out in picture above, I sure that you'll hate it too.

Cyber-bully. Such a simple word but bring a lot of trouble if we involve on it. What is cyber-bully? For those that already knew, it's okay. But for me, it's a first time I heard about it. Cyber-bully is a used of any some kind of technologies such internet and hand phone to harm anyone.  Cyber-bullying can be as simple as continuing to send e-mail to someone who has said they want no further contact with the sender, but it may also include threats, sexual remarks, pejorative labels (i.e., hate speech), ganging up on victims by making them the subject of ridicule in forums, and posting false statements as fact aimed at humiliation.

Research had demonstrated a number of serious consequences of cyber-bullying victimization. For example, victims have lower self-esteem, increased suicidal ideation, and a variety of emotional responses, retaliating, being scared, frustrated, angry, and depressed. The reluctance youth have in telling an authority figure about instances of cyber-bullying has led to fatal outcomes. At least three children between the ages of 12 and 13 have committed suicide due to depression brought on by cyber-bullying.

A number of businesses and organizations are in coalition to provide awareness, protection and recourse for the escalating problem. Some aim to inform and provide measures to avoid as well as effectively terminate cyber-bullying and cyber-harassment. Anti-bullying charity Act Against Bullying launched the CyberKind campaign in August 2009 to promote positive internet usage.
Firms have developed tools to help parents combat cyberbullying. In 2008, the company Vanden unveiled a tool that allows children to instantly notify selected adults when they are bullied or harassed online. CyberBully Alert also documents the threatening message by saving a screen shot of the child's computer when the child triggers an alert. CyberPatrol and LookBothWays are two firms that keep up with internet trends.
In 2007, YouTube introduced the first Anti-Bullying Channel for youth, (BeatBullying) engaging the assistance of celebrities to tackle the problem
Okay. I think this enough from me. Thanks for reading. Happy holiday from me to all of you.

Dear Halimah,

Thank you for reply my letter past two month ago. Now, it's my turn to reply your letter. Before that, I hope you and your family always in pink of life.

I quite shock with your letter past 2 days ago. You told me that you want run away from this life. But why, my friend? Did you had any problem along this month? It's okay if you don't want to share with me. But, I just can give you some advise too less your depression. I hope this letter will change your mind immediately.

Do you know, depression is a serious medical illness that involves our brain. It's more than just a felling of being "down in the dumps" for a few days. The symptom can include sadness, change in weight, thoughts of death or suicide. Depression is a disorder of the brain. There are the variety of causes, including genetic, environmental, psychological, and biochemical factors.Depression usually starts between the ages of 15 and 30, and it much more common in women.

Several approaches to psychotherapy, including cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and psycho dynamic, helps depressed people discover. Skilled therapists can work with depressed individuals to :

Pinpoint the life problems that contribute to their depression and help them understand which aspects of those problems they may be able to solve or improve.
A trained therapist can help depressed patients identify options for the future and set realistic goals that enable them to enhance their mental and emotional well-being. Therapists also help individuals identify how they have successfully dealt with similar feelings if they have been depressed in the past.
Identify negative or distorted thinking patterns that contribute to feelings of hopelessness and helplessness that accompany depression. For example, depressed individuals may tend to overgeneralize, that is, to think of circumstances in terms of "always" or "never." They may also take events personally. A trained and competent therapist can help nurture a more positive outlook on life.
Explore other learned thoughts and behaviors that create problems and contribute to depression.
For example, therapists can help depressed individuals understand and improve patterns of interacting with other people that contribute to their depression.
Help people regain a sense of control and pleasure in life.
Psychotherapy helps people see choices as well as gradually incorporate enjoyable, fulfilling activities back into their lives.

The support and involvement of family and friends can play a crucial role in helping someone who has depressed. Individuals in the "support system" can help by encouraging a depressed loved one to stick with treatment and practice the coping techniques and problem-solving skills he or she is learning through psychotherapy. Living with a depressed person can be very difficult and stressful on family members and friends. The pain watching a loved one suffer from depression can bring about feelings of helplessness and loss. Family or martial therapy may be beneficial in bringing together all the individuals affected by depression and helping them learn effective ways to cope together. This type of psychotherapy can also provide a good opportunity for individuals who have never experienced depression themselves to learn more about it and identify constructive ways of supporting a loved one who is suffering from depression.

I hope all my words in this change your mind from suicide. I think this all from me. I will wait for your next letter. As usual, send my regard to your parent.

Sincerely,
    Siti Nuraisah bt Mohd Shah
